Eventually the time comes when those with powers have a choice to make: do what they feel is right or let power corrupt. Sometimes these choices, though made for the right reason, are what make heroes

Since a young age, Neil Gallagher wanted to be a reporter. To Neil, everything was beautiful and wonderful but at the same time he knew everything had it's reasons. He was hell bent on revealing what the truth was. It started with finding out what bullies did with the lunch money they stole or what student was cheating on tests. It led into creating his own newspaper for his high school. It had been inspired by two men: The Daily Planet's Perry White and The Daily Bugle's J. Jonah Jameson.

Perry White was the dutiful king of Metropolis. He wrote article after article on the real things that plagued the city. Instead of worrying about heroes and hte like, Perry focused on everyday troubles and showing that there was good that could come out of the darkest times. Because of the way he approached life, Neil idolized Perry White. Neil was use to the darker side of life. While his family had always been loving, they had never had much money. Rent was hard to pay and more often than not food was hard to come by. Neil fell in with a bad crowd of ruffians at a young age, learning to pick pocket and gamble. The more he spent time with these boys, the more he drew deeper into their world. Neil quickly became an addict, going from home to home before getting clean. Yes, Neil knew the darkness of the world but preferred to talk about the light.

The other influence on Neil was the owner of The Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson. If Perry White was the dutiful king of Metropolis, Jameson was the dutiful tyrant of New York City. While Jameson was hard set in his ways of super heroes being evil, Neil saw something promising about being like him. Jameson took no crap from anyone, let no one change his mind. It was an admirable trait. Jonah wrote about the topic that interested Neil, heroes and their adventures. However, while Jonah saw only the bad that they did, Neil saw the way they benefitted the world. Neil had applied for an internship at The Daily Bugle to work with Jameson but after being instructed to write an article about how the world didn't need super heroes, Neil refused and Jameson fired him. He couldn't believe how infuriating Jameson was. The man had been saved countless times by Spider-Man and still hated heroes. How could he say those things?

Pushing his disdain for Jameson away, Neil left The Daily Bugle and was offered a column at The Daily Planet. Perry allowed him to write on heroes but cover the possibilities of what they could and would do. Neil was dedicated to revealing the truth about how people felt about heroes.

He was dedicated to honesty.
