Eventually the time comes when those with powers have a choice to make: do what they feel is right or let power corrupt. Sometimes these choices, though made for the right reason, are what make heroes

Casual Clothes:
Phil is a well dressed man who prefers suits to clothes that are casual. When he does wear something other than his suit, it's usually just to sleep in. His favorite sleep pants have Captain America's shield on them. Color is something he doesn't care about, nor does he usually wear. He prefers his plain black suit to colorful clothes.

Family Background:
Born to Robert Coulson, who ran a hardware store, and Julie Coulson, a stay at home mom, Phil Coulson was an only child. In his early thirties, he met Viola Montgomery and her four year old daughter Rebecca. When Viola died, Phil adopted Rebecca.

General History:
The man known as Phil Coulson was once a sickly child who grew up without many friends. Instead, Phil grew slightly obsessed with the hero Captain America. He did everything he could to emulate his hero, even enlisting in the United States Army when he grew old enough. Phil started with basic military operations but when he proved that he could, Phil started Special Ops.

These Special Ops assignments got Phil noticed by a man named Nick Fury who inducted Phil into the organization S.H.I.E.L.D. Coulson became the right hand to Director Fury, helping to track down and help cover up the existance of people such as Tony Stark being Iron Man. During the time, Phil met world class cellist Viola Montgomery and her four year old daughter Rebecca. Viola and Phil had plans to marry but when Viola died of cancer, Phil adopted Rebecca.

Travelling all over the world, Phil helped to form The Avengers. During Loki's romp on the S.H.I.E.L.D helicarrier, Phil was stabbed through the chest. The man, though the Avengers were told he had died so that they had something to work together for, survived and went on to travel the world with Rebecca to work as a S.H.I.E.L.D agent.

Relationship Status:
Phil is single and not expressly looking for someone to date. He believes that male or female, that person will find him.

Occupation:
Director of S.H.I.E.L.D

Philosophy/Values:
Phil believes in some higher power but isn't quite sure what it is. To him, super heroes need the protection of civilians as much as the civilians need protection. His red chevrolet, Lola, is important to him.

Quirks/Mannerisms:
Phil has a tendency to fidget with the cards of Captain America he keeps in his wallet.

Rational/Emotional:
In most cases Phil is rational, if the life of his daughter is threatened Phil is emotionally driven.

Shy/Bold:
Phil is bold, unlike when he was a child.

Values Violated:
When Phil's values are violated he becomes a stern figure but remains fair.

When Angry:
When angry, Phil becomes argumentative.

Misc Views:
Phil feels as if heroes are a needed part of life.

Minor Notes:
I work with the belief that Coulson knew he wouldn't die at Loki's hands.

Strengths:
His abilities as a secret agent
The commitment of his agents
The fact he has super heroes on call

Weaknesses:
Constantly worried Rebecca
The fact he's not as young as he once was
The fact he's only human so super powered villains are a threat
