Family Background:
Rebecca's mother Viola was a world class cellist who had a one night stand with a conman named Donovan Edmunton. Donovan split long before Viola ever gave birth to Rebecca, leaving the young girl without a father until she was four. When Phil Coulson came into Viola's life, he took in Rebecca as a daughter. Viola passed away later in the year and Phil officially adopted Rebecca.

General History:
Living with a single mother named Viola until she was four, then Rebecca Montgomery never knew what it was like to have a real father. When her mother met and fell in love with Phil Coulson, Rebecca got her wish. Phil treated Rebecca as his own, even showing her the joy known as Captain America. When Viola died of cancer, Rebecca begged Phil to adopt her. Rebecca officially became Rebecca Coulson.

For three years, Rebecca was aware of her father's job as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D and even got to meet the team that would later be known as the Avengers. She lived in the helicarrier and was present for Loki's romp, Phil making sure she got safely to Washington D.C. For hours, Rebecca mourned her father, believing him to be dead. When Fury revealed her father to be very much alive, Rebecca felt a mix of emotions: she was glad that her father was alive but disappointed that they had to lie to the friends her father had made. Rebecca swore to never tell a soul and the two travelled the world under new names so her father could support S.H.I.E.L.D.

When she was old enough, Rebecca enlisted in the United States Army to help the world. She made leader of a unit at a young age and led with bravery and an almost no nonsense style. One day a car bomb hit a car in front of her during a convoy. The car Rebecca was in flipped, killing her lover Troy Burton and causing youngest convoy member AJ Simpson to lose an arm. Rebecca's own leg was injured and after healing over the course of nine months, she was honorably discharged.

Rebecca's injury did not stop now Director Phil Coulson from hiring his daughter who now works as Phil's right hand agent, on top of trying to be a normal young adult.
