The Golden Rose (Open Group Thread)

There were few places in this world where men like him felt as if they were going to be well protected. Some choice the sanctity of prison, committing crimes simply so that they would be locked away from the rest of the world. He had tried that, when America was still young and voodoo kings and queens still roamed New Orleans. When they found out what you were, they turned you out on your ass as fast as they could in order to make room for real criminals. Others chose the church. Again, he had tried that. Being a priest wasn't as easy as it sounded and he had stopped that before the Alamo had been won from the Mexicans.

Yes, Keegan Thayer had tried it all but he never felt as happy as he did when running a bar.

It was a sad fact, the one place that he felt the safest was behind his bottles of whiskey and gin. It wasn't as if they could kill him. Oh no, he had tried that. He had tried a lot of things since he had been on Earth and none of them exactly worked. So he had decided to live at home in New Orleans, running the world famous Golden Rose. It was a bar that only catered to super powered clientel, be they good or evil.

Though she wasn't normally one to hang around in bars, or travel to New Orleans; Jean Grey found herself at the Golden Rose, staring up at the sign from out on the street. She'd regained a few of her memories, but not enough to really piece together much and one that was currently bothering her most was a particular face. She couldn't put a name to his face and it bothered Jean. She couldn't tell if in the past he'd been a friend or an enemy, so after spending time working out the good and bad about following it up, Jean decided to try and find out.

The more she'd focused on the mysterious face, the more she'd felt a pull to New Orleans of all places and soon after making her way there, she'd found herself lost and had eventually come across the Golden Rose.

She pulled down her dress' hood, frowning as she examined the outside of the place, trying to work out why exactly she felt drawn to the place. With a shrug of her shoulders, the redhead stepped forwards, cautiously approaching the place, unsure if it was even open, or safe.

"Hello...?" She called out, holding onto one strap of the small backpack she had hanging over one shoulder.

Lucky looked around as he entered the strange bar, he knew he shouldn't slipped away from his best friend and co-worker Ethan. But he felt the odd need to enter the bar, he had heard the rumor that only people with powers could go in and he knew that he would maybe find another like himself.

He carefully walked up to the bar, being very careful not to end up in some sort of fight with Ethan there to help him. The place was very clean he decided as he sat down at a single table, he decided to stay just a little while before going to find Ethan.

Hearing the door to his bar open, Keegan looked up to see not one but two patrons who were surprisingly early. He put down the mug he was cleaning and first made his was over to the beautiful red haired girl.

No, girl wasn't the right term. Woman was.

He knew her all too well, she was one of the few who could make it back from Death and go on to keep living, the Pheonix. Not that she knew that. She came back with no memory of her prior exploits, of who she was. He had made sure of that for her sake. Taking her hand with one of his own gloved ones, he smiled and kissed her hand, "Mon cherie, you look beautiful tonight. Come, come, there is a young man sitting in the back on his own! There is no aloneness in The Golden Rose! All of you must be friends!"

He made his way back to Lucky with Jean's hand in his, smiling, "Young man, young woman, do not act so alone. The Golden Rose is to prove that we all have friends. I am Keegan Thayer, you're host. Might I get your names?"

While Jean had been an easy read, simply because he had seen her before, this young man was not. He didn't seem to be powered and if he didn't show it soon, he would be thrown from the bar. It was a place for mutants and meta humans, not the unpowered.
